Pat Sledge works at her desk at Mabel T. Caverly Senior Center in Anchorage. Fifteen years ago she started the center's Phone Pal program, in which volunteers call to check in and chat with Anchorage-area seniors. She has kept the program going and is looking for more volunteers.
