Jeff Cook and his family met Mary-Claire King (far left) in her lab at the University of Washington campus. She discovered the BRCA1 genetic mutation and at age 71 is still working and excited about advances in cancer treatment and cures. Cook's wife Sue, son Jon (and his wife Melissa Stepovich who is not pictured here), and his daughter Melissa Sawchuk are all BRCA2 positive and enrolled in the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, monitoring their susceptibility to cancer.
