No one believes the message on Melissa Aronson's shirt, but it brought laughs at the Aug. 30 retirement party for Anne Hanssen (left), who has been overseer of Haines Senior Village and Haines Senior Center the past nine and a half years. Anne's successor as director is Valery McCandless (right), a well-known nurse whose husband is Dr. David McCandless, medical director of Haines Health Clinic. Melissa, a retired professor, volunteers at Haines Recycling Center. Anne will be staying in Haines with more time for two grandchildren.
