Fairbanks Resource Agency offers a free Information Exchange workshop for caregivers on the first Tuesday of each month. The workshops are open to the public and held at the FRA administrative office, 805 Airport Way, from 1 to 3 p.m. Refreshments and door prizes are on hand, and each workshop focuses on a different topic, featuring guest speakers. The June 4 workshop is “Discovering our Personality Style to Better Communicate Through True Colors,” presented by Bob Parr, assistant professor at UAF. Learn to understand your personality style or behavioral type, as well as others’, through the colors of blue, gold, green and red. The session will end with music relaxation therapy, via drumming. Sterling Senior Center will operate a Friday flea market this year in July and August, so now’s the time to start going through those closets, garages and storage sheds to gather up your unused items for sale. The center will start taking reservations this month for booths at the market. Call 262-6808.
Also in Sterling, the senior center’s Third Annual Gun Show is July 20-21. Anyone wanting to rent space at the show (it draws a crowd) should call the center at 262-6808, or Bill Bailey at 260-3725.
Fairbanks Parks & Rec senior activities coordinator Tiffany Corrigan is organizing a day trip to Chena Hot Springs on June 14. Cost is $25, which covers transportation, swim pass and ice cream. Availability is limited so names will be randomly drawn from the sign-ups. Call Tiffany for more details, 459-1136.
The art group is resuming its get-togethers each Monday, 1 p.m., at Santa’s Senior Center in North Pole. Bring a project and work with friends. Call 488-4663 for details.
Anchor Point Senior Center’s quilting group is holding a fundraiser raffle for one of their fantastic quilts. It’s on display at the center and tickets are available in the office for $2 each or 3 for $5. The drawing will be held at the center’s Fourth of July dinner. Call 235-7786 for more info.
A belated congratulations to Hardy Marvin and Elaine Smith in North Pole, who celebrated their 70th anniversary May 1.
