Legislative teleconferences begin Jan. 26
Keep track of senior-related bills, budget decisions and other issues by attending the Alaska Commission on Aging Legislative Teleconferences. Hosted by local agencies statewide, and available by toll-free call-in, the teleconferences provide a convenient forum for seniors and advocates across Alaska to share information about issues and specific bills of concern, including Medicaid, state budget and funding, senior assistance, retirement, Pioneer Homes and more.
Teleconferences are scheduled 9:30 to 11 a.m. every other Thursday and weekly during the last month of session. The 2017 meeting dates are Jan. 26, Feb. 10 (a Friday), Feb. 23, March 9 and 23, April 6, 13 and 23.
Teleconference host sites in your community and around the state will be announced. You can also check with your local senior center to request that they host the teleconferences. For a list of host sites, check with http://www.alaskaaging.org. The site also offers a list of bills to be discussed prior to each meeting.
Individuals who require special accommodations in order to participate should contact Lesley Thompson at (907) 465-4793 at least two days prior to the teleconferences.
