Genealogy seminar in Anchorage, April 21

Anchorage Genealogical Society’s (AGS) Annual Spring Seminar will be held at Changepoint Church in Anchorage on April 21, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“Genealogy and DNA testing are hot topics right now,” said Barbara Burg, event coordinator for AGS. “We have access to over one million tests now. It’s important for older people to take these tests because the more tests you have in the family, the better data you have.”

Sessions will be led by nationally-known speaker, Diahan Southard of “Your DNA Guide,” and will cover topics such as understanding ancestry DNA, using DNA to tell your story, five tips to make sense of your DNA and making YDNA and mtDNA part of your family history.

“It’s not necessary to have already taken a DNA test,” added Burg, “and we still have plenty of room.”

Cost is $60 for the day and includes light refreshments. To register, visit http://www.anchoragegenealogy.org or contact Barbara Burg at (907) 717-5499. For more information on Your DNA Guide, visit http://www.yourDNAguide.com.
