Wanna get away? Travel tips from our expert

Learn more at ‘Age Smart’ forum Nov. 12 in Anchorage

“Age Smart – Let’s Talk”, the series of forums sponsored by AARP Alaska, Older Persons Action Group and the Anchorage Senior Activity Center, returns Nov. 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Anchorage Senior Activity Center.

This month’s presentation focuses on travel. There is likely no activity that has as much allure to retired persons as travel. Whether to see grandkids, to get away from cold winters, to explore the other ’48, or even to cross the seas to exotic places far away -- racking up those frequent flyer miles is very popular for older Alaskans. This month, Age Smart is privileged to have Erin Kirkland, well-known Alaskan travel expert and author of “Alaska on the Go: Exploring the 49th State with Children”, and regular contributor to Senior Voice. She will give us hints and tips to making our travel more enjoyable, and sometimes less uncomfortable! Get out of your armchair and get on down to the Anchorage Senior Center for food, fellowship and some very valuable information to get you going.

The “Age Smart – Let’s Talk” series is a monthly forum that focuses on a topic of interest and importance to Alaskans who want to be thoughtful about how to make good choices as they grow older. The series is developed to provide working age adults with information necessary to plan and fulfill a secure, healthy and satisfying “life After 60” (all ages are welcome). Each month the series highlights a particular topic with a variety of formats, including issue experts, panel discussions, interactive presentations, and plenty of time for questions.
