Senior Fun Day is July 19 in Anchorage

Midnight Sun Home Care and Alaska Dinner Factory are having the fourth Senior Fun Day from noon to 4 p.m. on July 19 at Eastchester Park at 900 E. 20th Ave. in Anchorage. Food, games and family fun are in store.

The event is the brainchild of Eden Lovejoy, the owner of Midnight Sun Home Care. The first one, in 2021, was to mark the 20th anniversary of Midnight Sun Home Care, and it’s continued every year since. The company employs 28 people, most of whom are professional caregivers helping seniors with the activities of daily living.

Midnight Sun collaborates with Alaska Dinner Factory, which provides the food for the event. Alaska Dinner Factory is a meal-preparation company based in Anchorage, which also distributes homemade, microwavable dinners to local seniors every week.

“We are Alaska owned and independently owned,” Lovejoy said. “We’re Alaskan to our core. Alaska Dinner Factory too.”

The event is free and open to the public. It will occur rain or shine. Lovejoy said it rained persistently in 2023 and 2024, but that Senior Fun Day went on. She’s hoping for a bit more sunshine this year.
