Senior Voice does well in the North American Mature Publishers Association contest

Senior Voice Alaska earned second place in general excellence in the North American Mature Publishers Association annual contest among publications with circulations of 25,000 or less. The judge wrote, “Wonderful range of well-written articles and topics. This engaging publication does a great job of appealing to a wide-range of interests, and serving the Alaskan population specifically. Attractive, smart, and heart-warming.”

We earned first place in the “senior issues” category, for columns from Karen Casanovas, first place for editorial/opinion for Lawrence D. Weiss’ writing on a proposed sales tax in Anchorage, third place in feature writing for a story called “Dave’s musical memories worked magic,” by Maraley McMichael, second place for travel columns by Dimitra Lavrakas, second place for how-to feature stories also by Lavrakas, third place in feature writing by Laurel Downing Bill, second place for topical issues by Paola Banchero, first place for a cover featuring northern pintails (a kind of duck) taken by Rob Tappana for Bird TLC, and third place for overall design, thanks to our designer Rachel Gebauer.
