Fall health fairs are heading your way

Alaska Health Fair, Inc. kicks off their fall series of health fair around the state this month, featuring free health screenings and education, low cost blood tests and more. These tests can help you learn about your health and detect potential problems early, when treatment or changes in personal habits can be most effective. The test results give you and your health care provider important information about your physical condition and vital organ functions.

A complete and comprehensive chemistry/hematology test is available for only $45 and panels 27 different tests for conditions ranging from diabetes, kidney and liver function, to anemia and tissue health. thyroid, prostate, bone metabolism and much more. (You should fast for 12 hours prior to this test.) There are also tests to check thyroid function ($30), prostate disease ($25), A1C blood glucose ($25), Vitamin D level ($50) and a blood type test ($20). Test results are mailed to you in approximately two weeks.

Here are other benefits of health fairs, from the Alaska Health Fair, Inc. website (www.alaskahealthfair.org):

Keep test results private and secure. Alaska Health Fair does not use electronic health record systems and is not a member of any Health Information Exchange programs. We do not share our client information with insurance companies, health management organizations, or anyone else. When you do your tests with us, results go directly to you. You can keep them private or share them with your doctor, at your discretion.

Learn. Learn about health and wellness and how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Share: meet new people and medical professionals both in traditional and non-traditional medicine.

Have fun. Attend with a group of friends or family, loved ones or even coworkers. Experience different classes and hands-on demonstrations, take a break for lunch, and then come back for more.

Get freebies. Most exhibitors offer freebies, prizes, raffles and samples. Try new things that are good for you.

Get screenings and tests. Health is your greatest wealth! Our blood testing is quick and easy, and done by experienced medical professionals. It costs less than most people’s deductibles.
