Senior Voice -

Older Persons Action Group, Inc., earned honors for its monthly, statewide publication “Senior Voice” in the 24th annual National Mature Media Awards Program. The program, presented by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for the senior market, recognizes the nation’s finest marketing, communications, educational materials and programs designed and produced for older adults.

Senior Voice received both Gold and Silver awards in the Local/State media division, Newsletter/Newspaper category.

The entries were judged by a panel of mature market experts from across the United States for overall excellence of design, content, creativity and relevance to the senior market.

In addition to the publication awards, Bronze awards went to contributing writer Dianne Barske, for her feature stories “Changing Lives Through Literacy,” and “Friends and Poles Add to the Fun.” Both articles can be read on the Senior Voice website, http://www.seniorvoicealaska.com. Older Persons Action Group has been publishing Senior Voice for 38 years. The monthly newspaper, aimed at older Alaskans and their families, is distributed statewide, and is provided free to low-income seniors. Some funding is provided through a “Nutrition, Transportation and Support Services” federal and state grant managed by the State of Alaska, Department of Health and Social Services.
