This year’s Alaska International Senior Games (AISG) will be held August 9-18 in Fairbanks, with the opening ceremony and gala games kicking off Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Pioneer Park Civic Center.
Since 2003, AISG has attracted participants from across the United States and several other countries to compete in everything from disc golf and road races to ice hockey and pickleball, among many other activities that cater to different levels of experience and fitness. There will be 60 events in 20 different sports, in all.
The registration fee is $55, with an early bird discount of $20 savings for registrations received by midnight Alaska Daylight Time (ADT) on July 15. All registration must be received by July 25 at midnight ADT. Some events will have additional fees. Anyone 90 and older pays no registration or entry fees, and the Celebration of Athletes is free, but must use a paper form to register. All ages are based on your age as of Dec. 31, 2019.
Online registration or a downloadable paper registration form are available at http://www.alaskaisg.org/games/registration/.
Volunteers are needed with just about every aspect of the events, from keeping time to serving refreshments and running errands.
