Learn more at ‘Age Smart’ forum Dec. 10 in Anchorage

December 1, 2019

“Age Smart – Let’s Talk”, the series of forums sponsored by AARP Alaska, Older Persons Action Group and the Anchorage Senior Activity Center, returns Dec. 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Anchorage Senior Activity Center.

This month’s presentation is “The Holiday Season Survival Guide,” by Patrick Curtis, the Anchorage Senior Activity Center Wellness and Programs Director. As winter advances and we gather frequently with friends and family to share the joys of the season, many of us also experience anxiety over some common stressors that can affect our health and enjoyment of the holidays. Eating too many treats or helpings of delightful meals, feeling the effects of less sunlight, or finding what should be fun occasions with others more stressful than joyful are just a few common holiday detractors. Join us to hear some tips for keeping seasonal stress at bay using exercise, mindfulness, general nutritional strategies and more from a 25-year holiday survivor and fitness expert.

The “Age Smart – Let’s Talk” series is a monthly forum that focuses on a topic of interest and importance to Alaskans who want to be thoughtful about how to make good choices as they grow older. The series is developed to provide working age adults with information necessary to plan and fulfill a secure, healthy and satisfying “life After 60” (all ages are welcome). Each month the series highlights a particular topic with a variety of formats, including issue experts, panel discussions, interactive presentations, and plenty of time for questions.
