April 7 Anchorage Municipal Election Day. Most voters vote by mail in Anchorage for the municipal election. This is the last day you can submit your ballot. There are 12 propositions, ranging from school bonds to a new street light service area, on the ballot. April 15 National Federal taxes are due for most Americans. It’s a good idea to hug the CPA in your life at the end of the tax season.

April 19 Alaska Last day of the regular 90-day Alaska Legislature session. Although statute requires the legislature to adjourn within 90 consecutive days, the Alaska Constitution Art. II, Sec 8, still allows for a 120-day legislative session. Session could adjourn past the 90 days.

April 22 International Earth Day. Started in 1970 in the aftermath of a massive oil spill off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.

April 25 National Hairball Awareness Day. That’s every day in a household with cats.
