Sept. 19 National Talk Like a Pirate Day. It was created by two friends in Oregon and popularized by humor columnist Dave Barry, according to Wikipedia. It is a fun, silly holiday in which you are encouraged to use phrases such as "Avast, matey" and "Ahoy!"
