Hospice of Anchorage

Upcoming events at Hospice of Anchorage

March 1, 2018

Save the Date for Hospice of Anchorage’s 16th Annual Heroes of Healthcare Awards Black Tie Event and Auction at the Anchorage Marriott Hotel on Saturday, April 14.

Heroes of Healthcare is a way to recognize significant contributions and service to the community. This event is also an annual fundraiser for Hospice of Anchorage. Individuals have the opportunity to sponsor a table and bring eight guests to attend the event as well as participate in the silent and live auction. There are different levels of sponsorship starting at partner level of $1,500, up to our Premier level of $7,500, with options in between.

How you can help get involved in Heroes of Healthcare:

1. Sponsor a table at the event and attend. See our website http://bit.ly/2E3sBOq or call 561-5322 about how to reserve your table.

2. Donate new or slightly used auction items to our office located at 2612 E. Northern Lights Blvd.

Proceeds from the event go to support programs at Hospice of Anchorage. Hospice of Anchorage offers people with life-limiting illness the opportunity to live fully. We provide hospice services to people who do not yet qualify for Medicare hospice because either they do not meet the six months or less life expectancy or they are still seeking treatment.

Our support may include: nursing consultations for initial and periodic assessment and education regarding symptom management and end-of-life care; patient and family education about disease progression; assistance with insurance, financial and legal matters, and advance directives (living will, durable power of attorney, and Comfort One); trained volunteer assistance and support; emotional and spiritual support; bereavement and grief support; community resources and referrals; and public and professional education on end-of-life and palliative care issues. All services are provided at no cost.

March educational program

On Wednesday, March 21 from 2 to 3 p.m., our monthly educational program will be “Preventing Identity Theft and Top Scams Happening In Alaska,” presented by Michelle at The Better Business Bureau. This program is at no cost and will be located at Hospice of Anchorage’s office (2612 E. Northern Lights Blvd). Michelle will talk about how identity theft occurs and ways to protect personal information. Additionally, Michelle will report on the current scams occurring in Alaska and what consumers can do to prevent becoming a victim. Please RSVP to volunteers@hospiceofanchorage.org or by calling 561-5322. Our spots are limited.
