The Alaska Training Cooperative presents “Traditional Health Based Practices: Behavioral Health Continuing Education,” a foundational course on traditional lifestyles and health practices of people living in Alaska prior to western contact. Eight-hour class sessions are offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28, Nov. 9, Dec. 7, Feb. 8 and Mar. 8 in Fairbanks and other sites throughout the state via live, interactive, web-based delivery using Zoom.

Trainees will be introduced to beliefs, attitudes, and knowledge of health promotion and maintenance that were practiced, and will examine major changes leading to the current health status of the Alaska Native community. Special emphasis will be placed on potential strategies for improving behaviorally-based health. Continuing Education (CE) credits are approved by LPC Board, ANTHC CHAPCB, ACBHC and Social Work Examiners approved for Cross Cultural: Alaska Native Specific CEs (re-approval pending).

Cost is $120, and payment is due three weeks prior to class. Payments are non-refundable three weeks prior to the training date.
