Forum topic: Relic or art – what will you be?

November 1, 2020

“Age Smart – Let’s Talk”, the series of forums sponsored by AARP Alaska, Older Persons Action Group and the Anchorage Senior Activity Center, returns virtually online Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

This month’s focus is on the Anchorage Museum. Museums house collections of the histories of civilizations and culture. The study of our past gives us a look at what we have been and what we still can be. The Anchorage Museum has developed ways to stay connected to our community as we age. Join us to find out how art/creativity is beneficial for overall health, especially when growing older. We will look at images of visual art, experiment with simple-seated movement, and do some reflective writing/sharing.

The program presentation will be by Molissa Udevitz, an educator at Anchorage Museum, where she develops and leads a variety of interdisciplinary programs for all ages. She has facilitated museum visits for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and held art classes for seniors. Molissa is also an artist, dancer and choreographer and enjoys helping people connect with their creative side.

This event is free and open to everyone. The virtual meeting room opens at 6 p.m., program begins at 6:30. To sign up, go to AARP’s event page at https://aarp.cvent.com/NOVTOUR2020.
